They fail because of the data underneath it, and because operators don't trust what they're seeing. The Paseo Real WRF team in Santa Fe and [**Aquasight**](https://www.linkedin.com/company/aquasight/) has been putting plant data and AI to work, and the team shared what they learned. Five lessons: → Validate the data before adding intelligence on top of it. → Involve operators from day one, not at go-live. → Trusted context beats more data. → Operators make the call. The system supports it. → Roll out in phases. Confidence compounds. The conclusion: "Data quality and operator involvement, more than the technology itself, determined whether the tools were trusted and used." That's the difference between using AI and building a system.
